Motor Manifesto

The Motor Story
I grew up believing that if you wanted something there was a price to be paid and nothing would be handed to me, but earned. I’ve been fortunate to know some pretty remarkable people in my life, people who have accomplished and conquered. People who have failed, fallen and climbed again. The whole idea of a ‘comeback’ has always resonated with and inspired me.
Unfortunately, I’ve also seen a growing mindset that seems to embrace entitlement and is surprised when things don’t come easily. I suppose it could be expected when we have technology that takes all the work out of finding answers to questions and parents who coddle their kids so much they never need to step up and make something happen for themselves. I see it in my own home, three amazing kids who need to be taught that a price is to be paid for the things we want in life. I see it in business owners who think that success should roll their way simply because they opened their doors. I’ve seen it in athletes who think their talent is enough.
When I think of the people I know who accomplish, conquer and make comebacks, I see a common trait: They have a MOTOR. The greatest achievers have it. They have another gear…an uncommon way of thinking. When things look bad they find a way. When society is flowing one way they swim against it. They MOTOR against the currents of average and ordinary and demand better from themselves, their teams and their companies. Surprisingly, they are not necessarily the “smartest”, strongest or the most impressive according to their resume!
But they have a MOTOR. They outwork the others.
THEY
TAKE
ONE
MORE
STEP
when others take a break…or quit.
That’s what MOTOR is all about. A mindset. An UNCOMMON way of thinking. A reminder to keep getting after it and to stay on the attack. I help change outcomes for individuals, teams and companies by opening their eyes to uncommon ways to see, lead and execute in a sea of ordinary.
We are all created for something great. We all have a gift. It’s time to ignore the voices that say otherwise and MOTORhard! Are you with me?
